Oh, April!

In the second half of this month, I had something of a creative growth spurt and found myself sewing a lot. A lot, a lot.

In unprecedented scenes, I found myself finishing a quilt! This pattern is Amy Ball’s Stargazy Stitches, which I found lurking under the bed with only one row left to piece. Classic me! I finally put the king-size duvet cover I found in the RSPCA shop to good use as backing, batting and binding. I’ve even sourced a pole, so now all it needs is some hanging loops and it can brighten up my bedroom wall. Lovely stuff.

More wall hanging news: these log cabins are ready to be assembled for the Denim Edit Upcycle Challenge at Thread Republic. Let it be known that something has gone very wrong if I ever decide to quilt with denim of my own free will… I do love how it’s turning out though!

Excuse the lackluster WIP shot, but this was taken after a full night of frantic piecing to the sound of Prince in the 80s. There’s one thing I’ll say for insomnia: once you give in, you really do get on a roll. This piece is heavily inspired by a Gees Bend quilt (the name of the maker escapes me, but I’ll make sure to remember before I share the finished article). All of the fabric in this quilt will be repurposed clothing, which is making me happy.
Looking forward then, it’ll be more of the same, as well as some more. These books I bought this month are a bit of a clue…

Until next time
