It’s been another busy month here at Stitch149 HQ. Penny and I have been incredibly grateful for the first peeps of Spring (Pen because she can roll around in sun spots, and me because I got to celebrate my favourite day of the year – the first outdoor wash drying day!)
In between life admin, I’ve been squeezing in little moments for making. Usually I flit from project to project, but this month Big Pixel has been providing all the dopamine I need.

Made entirely from 1″ scraps, each square measures just ½” once pieced. I’m OBSESSED. It’s been just what I’ve needed: a very intuitive and organic process of growth, underpinned by the steady, methodical structure of simple 12 patch blocks.

My aim is to get this finished in time to enter it into Festival of Quilts. But I say that every year about projects involving more work than sense… Wish me luck!
Workshops
On 22nd Feb I ran my first Manx Log Cabin workshop at Thread Republic in Huddersfield.

Nothing fills my heart more than sitting to sew with other people. Attendees made some gorgeous interpretations of the block using traditional methods and reclaimed/scrap fabrics.
The Manx Log Cabin workshop proved to be very popular, so I’ll definitely be running that one again. I’ve also been prepping for an Introduction to Knitting class, as well as the ever-favourite Beginner’s Drop Spindle. Keep an eye on the Workshops page for updates on details!
Happy sewing,
Kim & Penny
